Discovery Questions
- What are the two kinds of Christians as described by Apostle Paul in v. 1?

Understanding Questions
- To understand better what Paul is referring to regarding the weak and the strong, in Chapter 14: 1-4, Paul describes who is weak and who is strong in the context of the situation. Who is ‘weak’ and ‘who is ‘strong’ in this context? (refer to Romans 14:1-4). How should the strong treat the weak in faith? Can you think of specific examples from your own knowledge and experience how the strong can bear with the failings of the weak?
- How do you understand and explain the phrase “ to please our neighbors”? (v. 2) Does it mean we should be “people pleasers”?
- How did Christ exemplify not pleasing himself? (v. 2 & 3) Expound your answer. (Cross ref. Psalm 69:9)
Application Questions
- From our Bible study, what is the key to surviving the storms of life as a person or individually and together as a family or as a church family?
- In this time of COVID-19 pandemic, what storms of life have you gone through or are going through? How did you find help and strength? Share with others. Or maybe someone in your family or in the church have gone through a challenging situation due to the pandemic, what steps have you done or will do in order to bear with the burden of the “weak” and those in need in spite of the imposed restrictions and limitations?
