Ephesians 1:15-23

As God’s people, we are guaranteed to experience God’s immense power in our lives. How can we do that?

1. Request the Illumination from God (v.15-18)

• Give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him
• They will receive revelation of spiritual truths
• Eyes of your hearts enlightened
• Holy Spirit opens the eyes and hearts to be flooded with divine light
• Have spiritual illumination and perception
  •  – To know God better
  •  – Not abstract knowledge of God
  •  – Know God personally and intimately
  •  – Intimate awareness of God’s character & will
• Know and experience God’s
  •  – Hope to which He calls us
  •  – The riches He possesses in us
  •  – The power He extends toward us

2. Realize the Nature of God’s Power (v.19)

• Dunamis– power as in dynamite
• Energia– working as in energy
• Kratos– power that overcomes resistance
• Ischus- inherent strength

• Transcendent
• Immeasurable
• More than sufficient greatness
• Dynamic power
• God’s power is:
  • – Divine
  • – Inexhaustible
  • – Irresistible
  • – Available
• We have sufficient power to:
  • – Meet temptations
  • – Overcome sinful habits
  • – Live and witness for Christ

3. Reckon the Manifestation of God’s Power

a. Resurrection

• Demonstration of God’s omnipotence
• Putting forth energetically
• His infinite power
• Decisive demonstration of divine power

• Resurrection power is available to us

• Attestation of God’s acceptance of Christ’s sacrifice
• Pattern and pledge of believer’s resurrection

• Man is mortal; he cannot avoid death
• Man is fallen; he cannot overcome evil

• But God in Christ has conquered both
• God can rescue us from both

b. Exaltation

• Ascension and exaltation of Christ
• God’s right hand is the place of
  • – Honor
  • – Privilege
  • – Power
• Far above all
  • – rule
  • – power
  • – authority
  • – dominion
• Primacy of Christ above all angelic and celestial beings
• Above every name
  • – In this age
  • – In the one to come

c. Enthronement

• Sovereign Dominion
  • – Superior to and authoritatively over all
  • – King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Rev.19:6)
• Head of the Church
  • – Church is a living organism
  • – Not a dead organization
  • – Relationship with Christ is
    •   – real
    •   – perfect
    •   – permanent

CHURCH IS:

• Living expression of Christ
• Means that effects His plans and purpose
• Agent that accomplishes His work

• Full expression of Christ
• Filled with His presence
• Animated with His life
• Endowed with His gifts

• In Christ, the church has everything needed to fulfill its mission

Conclusion

Let us seek to know Him and the power of His resurrection (Phil 3:10)
