Christmas in Crisis

With the backdrop of his message — the impending Christmas season upon us amidst the raging COVID-19 pandemic — Ptr. Renz Punio reminds and challenges the viewers to constantly trust God to guide them for God will always look after them and their families as well.

A. Discovery Questions

  1. What did the angel warn and instruct Joseph to do? Why? (v. 13)
  2. How did Joseph respond to the angel’s command?  (v. 14)
  3. In what circumstance was Joseph together with his family able to return to the Land of Israel?  (v. 19)
  4. How did Joseph and his family (with Mary and Jesus) end up in Nazareth instead of in Bethlehem in Judah? (v. (22). What new crisis confronted them that could put them in a new danger? (v. 22). Where did they finally settle to live? (v. 23). 

B. Understanding Questions 

  1. How do you see God’s plan of salvation being fulfilled in this passage?
  2. Why do you think Joseph was keen and very discerning to the voice of God in his life and was able to obey His instructions through the angels without doubt? What godly character could we emulate from him? 

C. Application Questions

  1. What did you learn from Joseph’s life as he obeyed God’s warnings and directions?
  2. How do you think are you able to put your faith into action especially amidst the crisis people are facing now – the continued danger due to Covid-19 virus and those facing the aftermath of the strong typhoons that ravaged different places in our country and the people affected by the flood in different places?
  3. How can you encourage others to trust God as we celebrate Christmas? Who do youplan to share this with in the coming days?
